i started my fencing career almost 30 years ago, and competed as a foilist and sabreur. i have been coaching for almost 20 years, and have led several fencers to national and international success. i am the head coach and president of westdale fencing club, which is a thriving community club in hamilton, ontario, and am also currently head coach and director of programming for excelsior fencing club in kitchenor-waterloo. i have served as personal coach to several members of the canadian national squad including a former world champion fencer, and am president of the ontario fencing association. i have also worked extensively as a fight director for stage and film.
i am trained and certified as a master coach in all weapons, and am registered as a coach, referee, learning facilitator, master evaluator and master learning facilitator with the coaching association of canada, the canadian fencing federation and the ontario fencing association.
i am very involved with the development of the sport at many levels, and sit on several provincial and national committees in my 'spare time'. i am also an occasional consultant for various sport policy organsations at the provincial and national level, and am a director-at-large of the coaching assocaition of canada.
